Mathias Thery

Choir conductor and head of Lux Amoris

Mathias Therybegan music at the age of five at the conservatory of Amiens. During his flute course, he began singing by participating in the conservatory's children's choir. As a young adult, in Paris, he sang in various vocal ensembles such as the Chœur de l'Orchestre de Paris, the Choirs and orchestras of the Grandes Ecoles or the Stella Maris choir. These ensembles allow him to sing under the direction of great conductors such as Lionel Sow, Daniel Harding, François-Xavier Roth... to approach the wide repertoire of choral music and nourish his desire to devote himself to choir direction.

After obtaining the diplomas in transverse flute and musical training, Mathias Théry naturally turned towards choir direction in the class of Marc Korovitch at the Paris Regional Conservatory where he obtained the diploma in musical studies in 2020, before moving on to to integrate the license of the higher pole of music of Paris Boulogne-Billancourt the following year.

During his studies in choir direction, Mathias also trained in music history at the CRR in Paris and at Boulogne Billancourt, in opera singing at the conservatory of the 7th arrondissement, and in Gregorian singing at the Chœur Grégorien de Paris. A practicing Catholic, his contact with the liturgy led him to found the choir and then the Lux Amoris school, a place of practice and training in sacred music in the liturgy. Mathias also founded in 2022 the Maîtrise Saint-Mauxe at the collegiate church of Notre-Dame de Vernon (Eure) and provides the musical service of the liturgy at the parish of Saint-Roch in Paris.
