Attracted at a very young age by "this mysterious side, these sounds coming out of nowhere" of the "king of instruments", as he explains, Vincent Warnier began his musical training with Raphaële Garreau de Labarre, organist in the church of Saint -Maximin de Thionville2. He then continued his musical studies at the Strasbourg Conservatory, in the organ class of Daniel Roth and André Stricker, at the Rueil-Malmaison Conservatory, in the class of Marie-Claire Alain, and at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris, with Michel Chapuis and Olivier Latry, where he obtained the First Prize in organ.

 

In 1992, he was awarded the first prize for interpretation at the Grand Prix de Chartres.

In 1995, he was co-titular organist of the Protestant Temple of the Annunciation in Paris. Then, in 1997, he became joint organist, with Thierry Escaich, of the Saint-Étienne-du-Mont church in Paris3. The same year, he was entrusted with the great organ of Notre-Dame de Verdun cathedral, succeeding Canon Pierre Camonin. He has also been organist in residence at the Auditorium-Orchestre national de Lyon since September 2013. 

 

Considered a leading instrumentalist and improviser, Vincent Warnier leads an international concert career. He performs regularly in Japan and in the main countries of Europe.

It is also necessary to specify his attachment to a second profession that he leads in parallel with the first: that of music teacher. Associate Professor, he taught at the University of Poitiers, then at the Stanislas College in Paris. He is now a teacher in the specialized music sections of the Racine4 high school. Since the start of the school year in September 2021, he has been an organ teacher in the new open class at the École Normale de Musique de Paris.

Regularly invited on the airwaves of France Musique, he participated from 2011 to 2013 in the weekly record review program hosted by Benjamin François, Le Jardin des critiques, then was a columnist on its Sunday program Sacrées Musiques. After having been a regular speaker on Renaud Machart's program Le Matin des musicians, he is now continuing this collaboration in Le Mitan des musicians.
