After studying violin at the Conservatoire National de Région de Versailles, Sylvain Dieudonné entered the CNSMDP in 1988 where he obtained six First Prizes: Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue, Orchestration, Analysis and finally Conducting of Gregorian choirs, which quickly became his specialty. He studied Gregorian chant in depth at the Abbey of Saint Pierre de Solesmes. Finally, for several years, he has specialized in the medieval bowed fiddle.​

In 1994, he was appointed choirmaster of the Notre-Dame de Paris choir school, and is in charge of the medieval music department: pedagogy, research, concerts at Notre-Dame de Paris, and finally the liturgy with the Gregorian mass that he conducts every week, offering continuity and permanence to this repertoire in the first cathedral in France. As part of the concert season at Notre-Dame de Paris, he is also in charge of the artistic programming for medieval music. Sylvain Dieudonné combines his activities as a choirmaster and teacher with those of a researcher. A large part of his work is devoted to the study of manuscripts, where a special place is reserved for the repertoire of the School of Notre-Dame. He has carried out important work in the restitution of works that are included not only in the programs of the concerts he conducts at Notre-Dame de Paris and throughout France and abroad, but also in the recordings he directs.​
